Michal BOSÁK (1869 – 1937)

Michal Bosák, a native from Okrúhle nearby Stropkov, belongs to one of the most significant Slovaks within the recent history. He became acknowledged as a successful banker in the United States of America and in 1976, he was included among the fourteen most significant Slovaks being active in the United States. His signatures could also be found on several United States’ banknotes.

Juraj KUKURA (1947)

Juraj Kukura was born on the 15th of March 1947 in Prešov and he is a significant Slovak actor. He currently lives and works in Germany.

Jonáš ZÁBORSKÝ (1812-1876)

Jonáš Záborský belongs to one of the most talented Slovak writers (poet and dramatist). He was also active as a journalist and historian. He spent the last years of his life in a small village called Župčany nearby Prešov where he wrote the majority of his prosaic and dramatic works. The Slovak largest theatre – the Jonáš Záborský Theatre in Prešov – is named after him.

Juraj WERNHER (1497-1567)

Juraj Wernher was a talented doctor, scientist, adviser of royal family, humanist and the founder of the Hungarian hydrography. He was the first person who systematically and objectively described the 22 most important places of the Hungarian Kingdom in which mineral or thermal springs could be found. With his work, he laid the foundation of hydrology, hydrography and balneotherapy not only in Slovakia but within the whole Europe.
